KSQ Gaming
Hard to believe that 30 years ago my mother was telling me that video games would rot my brain and I should go play outside. Gaming has developed into one of the most popular forms of entertainment, bringing in an estimated $43 Billion plus in 2018 according to a variety of sources from a google search I just did. But gaming has influenced our culture in more ways than may be apparent. There are Esports leagues where people compete in their favorite games at a pro level and there is even talk of adding some Esports to the Olympic games! In addition, there is an enormous community of streamers: people who broadcast their gameplay live and interact with their viewers in real time while playing.
Despite these advancements, the online gaming community still tolerates a surprising amount of toxic behavior including bigotry and homophobia. This unfortunate reality demands that there be safe spaces for members of the LGBTQIA community to engage with other gamers without fearing for their mental or physical safety. KSQ Gaming is one of these communities. We support LGBTQIA gamers (or gaymers) and streamers and strive to change the online gaming community’s tolerance for bullying and bigotry. Come hang out with us, game with us, let us host your streams, and let’s make gaming what it is meant to be, a fun place for all people to play.
WARNING! SERIOUS MESSAGE BELOW
If you’re a member of the LGBTQIA community and you need support, check out these resources. You’re not alone. If you want to contribute to the cause and support those in need, donate to one or more of these organizations. The work they do is incredible. There are tons of other organizations out there doing great work as well, we’ve just selected a few that speak to our goals and mission.
